2013 Annual Replacement Plan

The 2013 Annual Replacement plan for Subdistrict #1 has been approved for submittal to the State Engineer by both the Rio Grande Water Conservation District Board of Directors and The Subdistrict #1 Board of Managers.

2012 Subdistrict #1 Fees

The 2012 Subdistrict #1 fees are set as follows: The variable fee is $75.00 per acre foot, the administrative fee is $5.00 an acre and the CREP fee is $2.00 an acre.  These fees will be reflected in the 2012 fee calculations and will thus be reflected in the 2012 tax assessments that will be sent out by the counties in January 2013. 

Final San Luis Valley Regional Habitat Conservation Plan and Envioronmental Assessment

The Rio Grande Water Conservation District (District) is proud to announce the publication and distribution of the Final San Luis Valley Regional Habitat Conservation Plan and Environmental Assessment.  The HCP is the plan under which the District will help sustain routine agricultural and small-community infrastructure activities over time, while conserving habitat for two target wildlife species: the federally endangered southwestern willow flycatcher and a candidate for Federal listing, the yellow-billed cuckoo.  Both of these species are dependent on the Valley’s riparian environment. Verification Testing and Instillation of Totalizing Flow Meters on Can Pumps or Pivots

Subdistrict #1 is requesting a verification test for totalizing flow meters installed on can pumps or center pivots utilizing surface water. If a meter is installed on water being pumped by a can pump from a reservoir or ditch system; please advise your tester to use the attached form by clicking here.  If the meter is installed on a pivot to measure both surface water and groundwater together please contact the Division of Water Resources to insure compliance.  Click here to read the letter submitted to all local well testers and  click here for a list of certified well testers.
