Subdistrict #2

Subdistrict #2 members are currently in the process of electing a Board of Managers.  The positions representing the voting areas have been voted on and members now have the chance to vote on the two at large positions.  The deadline to turn in your ballots for the two at-large members is 4:30 p.m. Friday April 29th.  Ballots can be returned via email to or via U.S. Mail or in person to 8805 Independence Way, Alamosa (please reference the "New Location" post above for directions).

The District Court in and for Rio Grande County approved the formation of Special Improvement District No. 2 of the Rio Grande Water Conservation District on March 1, 2016.

Under the terms outlined in the petition, the Subdistrict will be governed by a Board of Managers composed of seven (7) members to carry out the general supervision and operational management of the Subdistrict.  The Board of Directors of the Rio Grande Water Conservation District will select and appoint the Board of Managers from a pool of nominated individuals.  Board of Managers must be landowners, or legal representatives of landowners, in the Subdistrict. 

Subdistrict #3

The work group for Subdistrict #3 has set the deadline to return signed petitions for April 29th by 4:30 p.m.  If you have not made a farm plan or received petitions it is not too late.  Please call the office at 719-589-6301 and you will be directed to someone who is available to help.  Additionally, you can come by in person or return you petitions at 8805 Independence Way Alamosa, CO 81101.

Verification Testing and Installation of Totalizing Flow Meters on Can Pumps or Pivots 

Subdistrict #1 is requesting a verification test for totalizing flow meters installed on can pumps or center pivots utilizing surface water. If a meter is installed on water being pumped by a can pump from a reservoir or ditch system; please advise your tester to use the attached form by clicking here.  If the meter is installed on a pivot to measure both surface water and groundwater together please contact the Division of Water Resources to insure compliance.  Click here to read the letter submitted to all local well testers and  click here for a list of certified well testers
